Boat driver awaiting trial for death of two passengers on a river in Siberia

In the Krasnoyarsk region the investigation of the criminal case on the death of two passengers of the boat, the figure in which is a 31-year-old boat driver from the village of Gremuchy, Boguchansky district. This is reported by Krasnoyarsk Transport Prosecutor's Office on Thursday, December 5.

According to investigators, in August 2024 the accused, being in a state of alcoholic intoxication, took a boat with four passengers on board on the Angara River and made a sharp maneuver at speed.

All the passengers of the boat were overboard. Two of them drowned, writes IA KrasnoyarskMedia.

The boat driver is accused under part 4 of article 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Violation of safety rules of movement and operation of inland water transport, committed by a person who is intoxicated, causing the death of two people by negligence". He faces from eight to 15 years of imprisonment.

The case materials have been transferred to the Boguchansk District Court for consideration on the merits.
