Serbian Parliament Adopts Foreign Agents Bill for Consideration

The Assembly (Parliament) of Serbia has adopted the draft law "On the Special Register of Agents of Foreign Influence. This was announced on December 5 by the initiator of the document, Deputy Chairman of the Movement of Socialists party Bojan Torbica.
"Our legislative initiative has been published on the website of the Assembly, which means that there are no formal questions and claims to it, and it will be considered by the deputies," RIA Novosti reports Torbica's words.
It is specified that the terms of the discussion have not yet been determined.
The project provides for the registration by the Ministry of Justice of "agents of foreign influence" - non-profit organizations or individuals who are engaged in political activity, participate in the electoral process and receive material funds from abroad.
Any public appearance of foreign agents must be accompanied by an indication of the status of an agent of foreign influence.
In case of violations, individuals will be fined between 5,000 and 2 million dinars.
Earlier, in May, the law on foreign agents was adopted in Georgia. Before that, the document caused a wave of protests.
