- The government has been asked to support a ban on fish products with non-living larvae

The Russian government has been asked to hold the Ministry of Agriculture to ban fish products in which non-living parasite larvae have been found. As "Izvestia" found out, such a letter to Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin was sent by Oleg Pavlov, head of the Public Council at Rospotrebnadzor, head of the Public Consumer Initiative.
"Frequent facts of detection of parasite larvae in canned fish receive a wide public resonance. This indicates a clear unwillingness of citizens to consider the presence of foreign and potentially harmful parasites in consumed products acceptable. An unplanned meeting with larvae in canned food can at least cause nausea or vomiting," he explained to Izvestia.
According to him, therefore, strengthening control is simply necessary. In this regard, he proposes to support the position of consumers and the Ministry of Agriculture, which has developed appropriate amendments to the technical regulations of the Eurasian Economic Union "On the safety of fish and fish products".
According to this document, it is not allowed to sell processed and unprocessed food fish products of animal origin, intended for consumers and packaged in consumer packaging or packaged by retail organizations, parts of which are affected by parasites that are not alive, but visible under visual inspection.
Earlier in the day "Izvestia" reported on the preparation of such a bill by the Ministry of Agriculture. In addition, the press service of the Ministry of Economic Development and the Ministry of Agriculture specified that the Ministry of Economic Development and the Ministry of Agriculture continue to work on a compromise version of the technical regulations in order to take into account the concerns of business about additional costs with the unconditional priority of consumer safety.
