Ukrainians without military registration have been denied passports abroad

Passport services massively refuse to issue documents abroad to 18-year-old Ukrainians who are not registered with the military. This was reported by the Strana.ua news and analysis website on December 5.
"This applies to guys who left before <the beginning of the special operation>, which at that time and should not have been registered in the TCC by age," - stated in the Telegram-channel of the edition.
It is specified that initially young men from 17 years old could register online, and from 16 years old their data should have been automatically entered into the mobilization register "Obereg" when receiving a passport. However, the scheme is currently invalid.
The refusals of passport services are officially explained by the lack of "technical possibility" to transfer information about the person in "Obereg". Deputies of the Verkhovna Rada noted that this situation forces young people to apply for temporary documents of foreign countries.
Earlier, on December 4, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that to win the conflict Kiev needs to announce the mobilization of 18-year-old Ukrainians. He noted that the decision on how young people should be mobilized should be made by the Kiev authorities themselves. At the same time, he added that Ukraine 's allies would provide the necessary training to the fighters.
Also on Wednesday, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said after the second day of the NATO foreign ministers' meeting that the proposal to lower the mobilization age in Ukraine was dangerous and could lead to escalation. According to him, it contributes to prolonging the conflict and increasing the risk of escalation.
Ukraine has been under martial law since February 2022. Then President Volodymyr Zelensky (term expired in May) signed a decree on general mobilization, its effect has been repeatedly extended. Most men between the ages of 18 and 60 are forbidden to leave the country. In April 2024, the head of the Kiev regime approved the law on tougher mobilization.
