Lukashenko forecasts record trade turnover between Russia and Belarus in 2024


Trade between Russia and Belarus will renew the historical maximum and reach $60 billion in 2024, said Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko at a meeting on preparations for the meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State on December 5.
"Despite all the problems, various unresolved issues, this year's trade turnover between the countries will reach $59-60 billion, including goods and services," BelTA informs him.
Lukashenko noted that this is a historically high indicator between Russia and Belarus.
According to BelTA, the level of mutual trade between the states has been steadily growing in recent years. It is noted that by the end of 2023, trade turnover amounted to a record $53 billion.
Earlier, December 3, Director of the Institute of Trade Policy of the National Research University Higher School of Economics Alexander Daniltsev told "Izvestia" that there are great prospects in trade between Russia and Belarus. According to him, this was facilitated by a well-established mechanism of interaction, complementarity of the economies of the states.
On the same day, chairman of the Commission on International Affairs of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia Sergei Rachkov said that the trade turnover between Belarus and Russia had grown significantly recently and amounted to more than $50 billion.
