Sobyanin congratulated veterans on the anniversary of the counter-offensive in the Battle of Moscow

Mayor of the capital Sergey Sobyanin congratulated veterans on the 83rd anniversary of the Soviet counter-offensive in the Battle of Moscow, which is celebrated on December 5. In his official Telegram channel, he thanked them for the invaluable lessons of courage, fortitude and patriotism.

"December 5, 1941 has forever entered the heroic annals of the Great Patriotic War. Having stopped the enemy at the walls of the capital, the Red Army fighters drove him away. There were more than one and a half thousand kilometers to Berlin, more than a thousand days and nights - a long and difficult way. But it was the defeat of the Nazis near Moscow that instilled faith in millions of hearts that this way would be victorious," the mayor wrote.

He emphasized that "the memory of the heroic front-line soldiers and home front workers we pass on to the new generations of the victorious nation".
