Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov's interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson will be released on Friday night, December 6. This was announced by Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova on December 5.
"This interview of Sergey Viktorovich Lavrov will be published on the night from today to tomorrow," the diplomat said on the air of Channel One.
The day before, Zakharova said that the conversation turned out to be very interesting, it lasted 1.5 hours. During the conversation Lavrov and Carlson discussed issues related to relations between Russia and the United States, as well as the situation in Ukraine.
Tucker Carlson said that he came to Moscow for an interview with Lavrov on December 4. According to him, he and his team are trying to show Americans a different point of view from what "they see from NBC News and The New York Times." According to the journalist, ordinary U.S. citizens don't realize that the world is closer to nuclear conflict than it was during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Earlier, on February 9, Carlson interviewed Russian President Vladimir Putin. The Russian president answered questions about NATO, the United States, China, the explosions on the "North Streams" and much more.
Carlson first flew to Russia on February 3. His visit to Moscow caused a mixed reaction in the United States. At the same time, many Western politicians and experts praised the interview, pointing to its great importance in highlighting Russia's position to Western audiences.
