Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko will meet in Minsk on the sidelines of the meeting of the Supreme State Council (SSC) of the Union State (USC). This was reported by the Kremlin press service on Thursday, December 5.
The meeting will be held on December 6 and will be timed to the 25th anniversary of the treaty on the establishment of the Union State.
The meeting will discuss issues of union building and prospects for further cooperation between Russia and Belarus, also planned to make decisions on the creation of a single electricity market, the fight against smuggling, protection of consumer rights, communication tariffs and strengthening joint defense.
"Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko will also hold a separate meeting," the Kremlin said in a statement on its website.
The leaders' last talks were held on October 9 in the Kremlin. During the meeting, Putin and Lukashenko discussed the development of Russian-Belarusian relations with a focus on integration cooperation within the Union State.
At the beginning of the meeting Putin stated that the dynamics of relations between Russia and Belarus is significant, trade and economic ties are developing at a good pace. In addition, Russia and Belarus have an opportunity to complement each other well in industrial projects, particularly in aviation.
