French President Emmanuel Macron's attempt to hold on to power has failed, the country's government should resign. This was stated by the Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin on Thursday, December 5.

"The government has lasted only 91 days, setting an anti-record in the history of France. The attempt to hold on to power by any means Macron failed," he wrote in his Telegram channel.

According to Volodin, the French leader has brought the prosperous country to "a state of deep political and economic crisis." The Duma chairman also noted that Paris has lost its independence and lost the trust of the country's population because of its support for Ukraine and following US policies.

"The time of Macron, [current U.S. President Joe] Biden and their kind should be a thing of the past," Volodin summarized.

France's National Assembly (lower house of parliament) passed a resolution of no confidence in the government of Prime Minister Michel Barnier on December 4. 331 deputies voted in favor of the vote of no confidence.

President Macron ruled out the possibility of his resignation from office. He called calls for his resignation a political fiction and confirmed his intention to remain in office until the end of the presidential term in 2027. In addition, he is scheduled to address the nation on December 5.
