The entry into force of the treaty on strategic partnership between Russia and the DPRK will help develop bilateral cooperation between Moscow and Pyongyang. The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on December 5.

"The entry into force of the treaty will contribute to the development of multifaceted bilateral cooperation in accordance with the new strategic level of Russian-Korean relations of friendship and cooperation, which meets the goal of building a new fair multipolar world," the ministry said in a statement.

It notes that the treaty will contribute to stabilizing the situation and building a system of indivisible security in Northeast Asia and the Asia-Pacific region (APR).

The Russian Foreign Ministry recalled that the treaty came into force the day before, December 4, - on the day when Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko and Deputy Foreign Minister Kim Jong-gyu exchanged instruments of ratification.

Earlier in the day, the Korean Central Telegraphic Agency (KCTAK) specified that Pyongyang's position on the strategic partnership treaty with Russia is that the two countries' relations based on the agreement will guarantee international strategic stability and make the construction of a new multipolar world faster.

The DPRK ratified the comprehensive strategic partnership treaty with the Russian Federation on November 11. On that day, the relevant decree was signed by DPRK Chairman Kim Jong-un.

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the law on ratification of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty between Russia and the DPRK on November 9. It is specified that the new agreement is valid indefinitely and provides for mutual assistance in case of aggression against one of the participating countries.
