Fraudsters have created a "New Year" scheme to cheat in Telegram

Fraudsters have come up with a "New Year" scheme of deception in Telegram under the guise of prize drawings. This was reported on December 5 by PGR Agency marketer Anastasia Bastrykina.
She specified that con artists create fake accounts of famous brands in the messenger in order to illegally obtain personal information and money from users.
"Of course, all victims of scammers turned out to be surprisingly "lucky" - they were informed about the winnings and then immediately tried to get out personal information. Swindlers are interested in access to the personal account of the marketplace user, and bank card data," Bastrykina told the agency "Prime".
The marketer recommended users to be vigilant and not to panic, as attackers can organize a fake contest on behalf of any brand.
Earlier, on December 4, Igor Bederov, founder of Internet Search and director of the investigation department of T.Hunter, told Izvestia about spoofing. He specified that it is a type of cyberattack when an attacker masquerades as another person, company or object to gain the trust of the user.
According to the expert, in order to protect oneself from fraudsters, it is necessary to verify the e-mail addresses of counterparties by checking their technical - service - headers. This makes it possible to identify fake e-mail addresses, as well as those that do not belong to the counterparties, Bederov specified.
