Volunteers continue to help residents of settlements in Kursk Region, which have suffered due to attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). Izvestia publishes footage of the work of local volunteers.

In the region, volunteers of the Russian Orthodox Church's aid centers are distributing food and basic necessities to those who need them. Residents who due to their age can not independently reach the organized centers, receive kits from the hands of volunteers. Thus, a girl Valentina delivers packages to local residents.

"Grandmothers, they were here originally, but grandfather just came back. All the hostilities were here," she shared in a conversation with Izvestia correspondent Emil Timashev.

The man she visited thanked her warmly and noted that volunteers can always be relied on. On the way, Valentina met another local resident, Elena Krivosheeva. She shared her experience of living in a settlement from which many people left because of the AFU attacks.

"There's the red roof, and there was a temporary house standing there. They bang first on it, and then hit this house here - and on the way such clubs, like welding, rolled. One of the houses caught fire, not residential, and this one was also residential, my grandfather had left there. There were weeds there, and even this empty wooden house across the road burned down. Volunteers helped us - Valentina is standing there," - said the woman.

Earlier, on December 4, it became known that volunteers of the "People's Front" delivered humanitarian aid to civilians of the liberated town of Selidovo in the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR). The aid included 100 packages, including food kits.

Ukrainian militants attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk Region on August 6. The situation in the region was recognized as a state of emergency of federal character. The liquidation of the AFU units invading the Russian territory is underway.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
