The foreign ministers of Ukraine and Cyprus, Andriy Sibiga and Konstantinos Kombos, discussed bilateral relations and further support for Kiev on the platform of the 31st Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE Ministerial Council), which will be held in Malta on 5-6 December. The Cypriot foreign minister said on December 4.

"Good exchange of views with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga on the sidelines of OSCEMC2024. The discussion focused on further support for Ukraine, regional stability and global challenges, as well as bilateral relations," he wrote on the social network X (former Twitter).

Earlier in the day, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova had her Maltese visa to the OSCE canceled with the wording "due to circumstances beyond their control."

The Foreign Ministry announced Russia's plans to take part in the OSCE Ministerial Council meeting in Malta back in early October. It specified that several meetings had already been held to discuss the participation of all OSCE members.

Later, on November 1, it was reported that Poland and its partners could not agree on their reaction to the participation of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in the OSCE Ministerial Council meeting. As Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski pointed out, no decision on this issue has been taken and is currently being discussed among the allies.

On December 5, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov arrived in Malta to participate in the OSCE Ministerial Council meeting. The Russian Foreign Ministry said that Lavrov was scheduled to meet with a number of foreign ministers from several countries within the framework of the Ministerial Council.
