The Russian Defense Ministry reported on the feats of Russian fighters in the area of the Strategic Air Defense Forces

On December 5, the Russian Defense Ministry reported on the exploits of Russian fighters in the zone of special military operation (SMO).

The ministry said that the actions of Private Dmitry Zuyev made it possible to uncover an enemy sabotage and reconnaissance group (DRG) in advance in the zone of responsibility of Russian fighters and prevent them from seizing positions. While on duty, performing the combat task of defense of a given area, Zuev detected the covert movement of a DRG of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the direction of the positions of the Armed Forces (AF) of the Russian Federation.

Then the private reported about the enemy to the command and engaged in combat with the militants, conducted targeted fire on the moving enemy, who, despite numerical superiority, suffered significant losses, leaving the wounded, fled deep into enemy-controlled territories.

Zuev's courageous and selfless actions made it possible to reveal in advance the actions of the enemy DRG in the area of responsibility of the Russian fighters and prevent the capture of the Russian army positions.

The Russian Defense Ministry also reported on the actions of Sergeant Andrei Skuridin, who managed to repel an enemy counterattack, inflicting significant damage to the enemy's manpower.

While performing the task of covering the Russian attackers in one of the tactical directions, Skuridin equipped a machine gun point at a favorable position during the attack from the Ukrainian militants and began to push back the AFU infantry from the flank of the Russian attackers. The serviceman shot down an FPV drone with machine gun fire and inflicted significant damage to the enemy's manpower.

It is specified that Skuridin held off enemy counterattacks for more than three hours at his defense site. During this time, the enemy suffered heavy losses and retreated deep into their defenses. This allowed the assault unit to successfully accomplish the task of capturing the stronghold.

Earlier, on December 4, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that servicemen of the Russian Army's North group destroyed an AFU BTR-4 armored personnel carrier in Kharkiv Region. The equipment was detected with the help of aerial reconnaissance. The agency said that the BTR-4 was moving along a forest belt.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
