- The French National Assembly passed a resolution of no confidence in the Barnier government

The National Assembly (lower house of parliament) of France adopted a resolution of no confidence in the government of Prime Minister Michel Barnier. This was reported by the newspaper Le Parisien on December 4.
For the vote of no confidence voted 331 deputies. At least 289 out of 577 votes were needed for its announcement.
"The vote of no confidence passed by 331 votes, Barnier's government is officially overthrown," the publication said.
Barnier is thus forced to step down as prime minister and the French government of France will resign. This is the first time since 1962 that the French parliament voted in favor of a vote of no confidence, resulting in the resignation of the government of Prime Minister Georges Pompidou.
"Prime Minister [Barnier] must submit the resignation of the government to the president of the republic [Emmanuel Macron]," emphasized the president of the National Assembly, Yael Bron-Pivet.
In turn, the leader of the "National Union" party Marine Le Pen noted that the pressure on the French president will increase. In her opinion, "Macron is largely responsible for the current situation," but she does not demand the resignation of the President.
On December 2, the head of the National Union party, Jordane Bardella, promised a vote of no confidence in the French government unless "a miracle happens." He admitted that he did not hope for a miracle after deliberately ignoring the authorities for several months.
At the same time it became known that the opposition of the left in the French Parliament put forward a vote of no confidence in the government because of the decision to adopt the social part of the country's budget without taking into account the opinion of deputies. Marine Le Pen's party "National Union" confirmed that it would support the vote.
The next day, December 3, French President Emmanuel Macron ruled out the possibility of his resignation from office. He called calls for his resignation a political fiction and confirmed his intention to remain in office until the end of his presidential term in 2027.
Ex-European Commissioner, former head of the French Foreign Ministry, moderate right-wing Michel Barnier was appointed as the new French Prime Minister in early September. In October, the government of this composition already tried to put forward a vote of no confidence, but then the French parliament rejected it.
