Law enforcement agencies will eliminate the problem of corruption in Russian soccer. Russian Sports Minister Mikhail Degtyarev told reporters on December 4.

"What do I think about the information about corruption in Russian soccer? What to think, there are law enforcement agencies, they will sort it out. If the governor has declared, it means he has a reason to do so. I've known [Samara Region Governor Vyacheslav] Fedorishchev for a long time, we attended the governors' school together," Degtyarev said, commenting on Fedorishchev's information about the debt of the Krylya Sovetov soccer club of 36 million rubles for bribes to referees.

Earlier in the day it was reported that the Interior Ministry of the Samara region is conducting an inspection after the words of Samara region governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev about corruption in the Russian Football Premier League.

On November 26, Fedorishchev told the Russian State Council's commission on sports development that he had learned about a debt of 36 million rubles owed by the Krylya Sovetov soccer club to "criminals who are engaged in corruption in the referee corps of Russian soccer." According to him, such a system has been in place for several years. The governor suggested refusing to finance the said scheme with taxpayers' money.
