Usmanov suspended his activity as FIE President

Alisher Usmanov has temporarily suspended his activity as president of the International Fencing Federation (FIE) in the interests of the federation itself. This was announced by Usmanov's representative on Wednesday, December 4.

"After his unconditional victory, Alisher Usmanov stated that, guided by the interests of the FIE, he would take the necessary actions to avoid the extension of legally untenable sanctions imposed against him to the FIE and its activities, and in this regard he notified the FIE Executive Committee about the voluntary suspension of his powers," the representative told TASS.

Earlier, on December 1, the press service of the Russian Fencing Federation (RFF) reported that four Russians will work in the compositions of various FIE commissions according to the results of voting at the reporting-elective Congress in Tashkent.
