In Akmola region in Kazakhstan convicted for illegal gold mining 12 people, including representatives of Ukraine This was reported on Wednesday, December 4, the main transport prosecutor's office of the Republic on its official website.
It is noted that state prosecutors proved the guilt of 12 members of an organized criminal group (OCG) in the illegal mining and processing of gold-containing ore, as well as in the artisanal manufacture and sale of counterfeit gold jewelry through markets and stores.
"The criminal scheme was organized by a citizen of Kazakhstan with the involvement of citizens of Russia and Ukraine. The damage to the state amounted to more than 250 million tenge (almost 50 million rubles. - Ed.)", - stated in the message.
It is specified that the verdict has not yet entered into force.
Earlier, on October 21, the Public Relations Center (PRC) of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation reported that in the Urals detained members of the group, illegally mining gold, during searches were found nuggets and ingots worth a total of 300 million rubles.
It is noted that the total mass of seized bars exceeded 41 kg. Law enforcers also found special equipment for the extraction of precious metal. A criminal case under Part 4 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Illegal trafficking of precious metals, committed on a large scale") was initiated.
