Reuters reported Georgescu's desire to end military aid to Ukraine

If independent candidate Calin Georgescu wins the presidential election in Romania, the country may stop military aid to Ukraine. This was reported by Reuters on December 4.
According to the candidate, Romania and its people are a priority for him.
"The concern of the Romanian people is to be happy. They can't be happy spending money on other things. If NATO is defensive, it must remain defensive. I believe in one thing: Romania has no obligations to anyone," he told the agency.
Georgescu also noted that his priorities do not include the deployment of both the U.S. missile defense systems and NATO's permanent battle group on Romanian territory.
In addition, the Romanian presidential candidate said that if elected, he would ban the export of Ukrainian grain through the territory of the state.
On the eve of the newspaper Politico reported that in case of victory in the election, Georgescu will follow the decisions of US President-elect Donald Trump on the peace agreement in Ukraine. In addition, he called the partnership with the United States important for the state.
On November 24, the first round of the presidential election took place. According to official data, Georgescu is leading with 22.94% of the votes. The leader of the opposition party "Union of Salvation of Romania" Elena Lasconi has 19.17% of votes. A second round of voting is planned, as none of the candidates managed to get more than 50%. At the same time, the head of the Romanian Central Election Commission, Tony Greblae, said on November 29 that if the Constitutional Court overturns the results of the first round, it may be held again on December 15.
