Russia has requested a meeting of the United Nations (UN) Security Council (UNSC) for December 20 to discuss the West's arms deliveries to Ukraine. This was reported by Russian Permanent Representative Vasily Nebenzya on 4 December.

It is specified that the meeting will discuss Washington's decision to allow Kiev to launch strikes with long-range missiles deep into Russia.

"I mean the authorization to use long-range missiles ATACMS and Storm Shadow to strike deep into our territory, which fundamentally changes the essence of the conflict. Nevertheless, we will have to talk about it at a separate meeting requested by us on December 20," Nebenzya said at the UN Security Council meeting.

He also pointed to the U.S. attempt to shift attention from the authorization of United States President Joe Biden to strike deep into Russia to fake stories about Moscow's actions.

Earlier on Nov. 28, Putin warned that Russia would respond to aggression from Ukraine by selecting the right tool for each target. After the U.S. missile attacks, the Russian army launched 100 missiles and 466 drones at Ukrainian military facilities, the Russian leader specified at the time.

On Nov. 21, Putin said Ukraine had used Western long-range weapons against the Russian state, causing the regional conflict to acquire elements of a global conflict. He also said that one of Russia's newest medium-range missile systems, the Oreshnik missile, had been tested under combat conditions.

Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Ukraine amid Russia's special operation to protect Donbass, which began on February 24, 2022. The decision to conduct it was taken by the Russian president because of the aggravation of the situation in the region due to the increased shelling by Ukrainian troops.
