Tom Yam soup has been inscribed on UNESCO's list of intangible cultural heritage

Thai spicy soup "Tom Yam Kung" was included in the list of intangible cultural heritage of UNESCO. This was reported on December 4 on the website of the Thai government with reference to Minister of Culture Sudawan Wangsupkhakitkoson.
"The decision was made and recorded by the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity at its 19th session," the minister said.
She noted that "Tom Yam Kung" is a symbol of the Thai way of life and one of the highlights of the soft power of the "Land of Smiles".
Earlier, on November 28, Vienna sausage makers were included in the list of UNESCO's intangible cultural heritage. It was reported that the tradition of sausage shops dates back to the Austro-Hungarian Empire before World War I, when former soldiers opened mobile eateries to earn a living. Before that, Viennese coffee shops and wine taverns had already made the list.
