Media reports and the rhetoric of Western politicians regarding US President-elect Donald Trump's plans for Ukraine do not mean that real proposals have already been formed. It is premature to say that the West has already agreed to Kiev's concession of territories. Denis Denisov, an expert at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, shared this opinion in a conversation with Izvestia on December 4.

Earlier in the day, Reuters reported that Trump's team proposed three plans with territorial concessions to Ukraine. It was specified that the developers of the initiatives were American officials and politicians Keith Kellogg, JD Vance and Richard Grenell.

Commenting on this, Denisov noted that the public has information about Trump's plans only on the basis of those notes in the media, which, in fact, can hardly be called already formalized proposals in the current conditions of the negotiation process. Besides, the interlocutor of the publication added, for example, Kellogg's plan was written almost a year ago, and during this time many parameters of the situation have changed, which means that the settlement proposals should also change.

"The thing is that these parameters can become real only if the negotiation process, which has not even started yet, is successfully completed. <...> As we know, negotiation processes can drag on for more than a month, a year or even more. In this case, we should expect from Trump and his team actions aimed at total militarization of Ukraine, support for Ukraine," the expert explained.

In addition, Washington in such a case can offer formats for Kiev's interaction with NATO without inviting Ukraine to the alliance. But, the political scientist expressed confidence, it will absolutely be those interfaces that will not suit Russia.

"We will see the first, basic parameters of the negotiation process at the end of January. And who and what they agree to will become clear even later," Denisov concluded.

Earlier, on November 22, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said that Trump has every opportunity to end the conflict because Washington has all the tools to stop hostilities. He noted that Moscow does not rely on Trump or anyone else in the Ukrainian issue.

On November 14, Trump promised to "work very hard" to end the conflict in Ukraine. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that Moscow will wait for proposals to this effect and is ready to consider them.

Before that, on November 12, former Democratic Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard said that Trump's goal is to prevent World War III. She noted that all diplomatic measures should be tried before sending the US Armed Forces to hot spots, and this is one of the reasons why many Americans voted for Trump.

The election for the 47th president of the United States was held on November 5. In the national vote, Trump received 51% of the vote, while Democratic candidate Kamala Harris received 47.4%. The next day, the politician, speaking to supporters, called himself the 47th President of the United States and said that his goal as head of state considers the end of military conflicts in the world.
