In New York City, an insurance company executive was shot dead in the street

Brian Thompson, chief executive officer of the American insurance company UnitedHealthcare, was shot by an unknown person in New York near the New York Hilton Midtown hotel. This was reported by The New York Post (NYP) on December 4.

The man was standing outside the hotel, where an investor conference was to be held, when an unidentified man fired several shots at the director.

Thompson was rushed to the hospital in critical condition where he died. According to the publication, the unidentified masked man fled after the murder.

The investigation into the case is ongoing at this time.

UnitedHealthcare is part of the UnitedHealth Group - the largest health insurance company in the United States, which specializes in insurance business. Brian Thompson had been with the company since 2004 and took over as head of UnitedHealthcare in 2021.

Earlier, on November 25, a hunter mistakenly shot a woman in the forest in the Novosibirsk region. As indicated in the agency, the 29-year-old suspect was hunting in the forest at a distance of about 2 km from the town of Barabinsk in the Novosibirsk region. According to the investigation, having noticed movement in the bushes, he shot at least twice in their direction. However, it turned out that at that time there were people standing there. The wounded 44-year-old woman died in hospital.
