Pashinyan says it is inexpedient to hold the EAEU summit in Armenia

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said on December 4 that he considers it inexpedient to hold a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council (EAEC) in Yerevan.
"I would like to say directly that I personally considered it inexpedient to hold the event in the Republic of Armenia," Armenpress news agency quoted his statement made in the Armenian parliament as saying.
Pashinyan explained his decision by the fact that "not all members of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council are desirable" for the republic.
Earlier, on November 26, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov told reporters that the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council will be held on December 25 in St. Petersburg at the request of Armenia, which chairs the EAEU. At that, Pashinyan will chair the meeting.
Prior to that, in July, Alexei Sandykov, a member of the Armenian parliament from the ruling Civil Contract party, told Izvestia that Yerevan's rapprochement with the European Union does not mean leaving the Eurasian Economic Union. According to him, the EAEU is Armenia's main export and import market, and it is about diversification of relations.
