Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdel Aty during a telephone conversation noted the inadmissibility of the spread of the terrorist threat in Syria. The corresponding message was published on December 4 on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

The sides expressed serious concern over the sharp escalation in the country.

"Support for the sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of the SAR (Syrian Arab Republic. - Ed.) was confirmed. The need to prevent the spread of the terrorist threat, which could result in the destabilization of the entire region, was stressed," the statement said.

In addition, the ministers discussed the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and noted the need for an early ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, as well as the need to resolve the Palestinian problem at the international level.

In addition, they considered the prospects and directions of development of Russian-Egyptian cooperation, the parties expressed interest in maintaining political dialog, deepening trade, economic and humanitarian ties.

On November 28, the Syrian Defense Ministry reported that terrorist groups launched a major attack in the cities of Aleppo and Idlib, at the same time the Syrian Army began to repel them and inflicted significant damage to the equipment and manpower of terrorist groups.

On November 30, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi called the activation of terrorists in Syria part of the US plan against the background of Israel's defeat in Lebanon. In turn, the White House denied its involvement in the events. In addition, Britain, the U.S., France and Germany called on all parties in Syria to de-escalate.

December 2, Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian during a telephone conversation with Russian leader Vladimir Putin said that the activation of terrorists in Syria was part of the plan of Israel and the United States to destabilize.

On the evening of December 3, the Syrian Defense Ministry reported that the country's army had established control over the city of Hama and started mopping up terrorists. The ministry also denied reports of militants infiltrating some neighborhoods. On December 4, the General Directorate of Radio and Television of the Arab Republic (ORTAS) reported that since the beginning of the week the Syrian army had destroyed more than 1.6 thousand militants.
