In Thailand, a 12-meter Buddha statue killed a monk

A 37-year-old monk has been killed and five others injured in Thailand after a 12-meter Buddha statue collapsed.
"Locals believe that a mysterious destructive force caused the collapse of a Buddha statue at a monastery on the banks of the Mekong River in Isaan Amnat Charoen province on November 29, killing one monk and injuring five others," the Thaiger news portal said in a publication.
It is specified that the incident occurred when the monks were removing molds from the concrete base of the statue. According to one of the victims, the cause of the fall could be a strong wind. Local residents blame the incident on evil spirits. According to them, the site of the Buddha used to be the site of an ancient house and the spirits attached to this territory expressed their displeasure.
According to the publication, the work with the statue was carried out by the monks prematurely because of the order of the monk-overseer.
The material also cites the opinion that many temples in Thailand do not hire qualified specialists for construction projects, so the tragedy happened because of the lack of appropriate staff.
Earlier, in April, an eight-year-old girl was injured in Moscow when a museum statue fell on her. The incident took place in the Museum of Defense. The girl together with a classmate approached the statue of a warrior about 170 cm high and pulled her hands, after which the statue fell on the child. The victim was hospitalized.
