The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova was canceled Maltese visa for the OSCE with the wording "due to circumstances beyond their control". This was reported on December 4 on the website of the Russian diplomatic ministry.

The Ministry called it an unprecedented case. It is noted that the visa issued to the diplomat was canceled before the departure of the Russian delegation from Moscow to the meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs (CMFA).

"An unprecedented case was the revocation on the eve of the event already issued by the Maltese presidency visa to the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry M. V. Zakharova with the wording "due to circumstances beyond their control" - commented on the situation department.

In turn, Zakharova reacted to the annulment of the document with irony.

"The Maltese issued a visa. But today, almost right before departure ... withdrew their own decision <...> Magnetic storm? Asteroid in Yakutsk? Mercury retrograde? Let me remind you that this is a ministerial event of the very OSCE, which as if continues to advocate for freedom of movement," she wrote in her Telegram channel.

Zakharova pointed out that she has devoted more than 25 years to her work and has always felt frustrated by missed opportunities to do her job for technical, procedural or force majeure reasons.

The OSCE Ministerial Council will be held in Malta on December 5-6.

The Foreign Ministry announced Russia's plans to take part in the OSCE Ministerial Council meeting in Malta back in early October. It specified that several meetings had already been held to discuss the participation of all OSCE members.

Later, on November 1, it was reported that Poland and its partners could not agree on their reaction to the participation of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in the OSCE Ministerial Council meeting. As Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski pointed out, no decision has been taken on this issue and it is being discussed among allies.
