- Interior Ministry launched a check after Samara governor's words about corruption in soccer

The Samara Region Interior Ministry is conducting an inspection after the words of Samara Region Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev about corruption in the Russian Football Premier League. This was reported on December 4 by Alexander Kurbatov, head of the information and public relations department of the Main Directorate of the Russian Interior Ministry in the Samara region.
"Currently, the department of economic security and anti-corruption of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Samara region on the statement of the Governor of the Samara region Vyacheslav Fedorishchev is being checked, all the circumstances of the incident are being established," - said Kurbatov.
Earlier, on November 26, Fedorishchev said at the commission of the State Council of the Russian Federation on the development of sports that he learned about the debt of the soccer club "Krylya Sovetov" in the amount of 36 million rubles to "criminals who are engaged in corruption in the referee corps of Russian soccer." According to him, such a system has been in place for several years. The governor proposed to refuse to finance the said scheme at the expense of taxpayers' money.
After that, on November 28, Fedorishchev referred the facts of corruption schemes in Russian soccer to the police. Fedorishchev expressed disappointment that the Russian Premier League (RPL) clubs demanded confirmation of the facts of corruption in soccer. In conclusion, the governor of the Samara region emphasized that he was in favor of "clean sport".
