Putin explained the popularity of Chinese cars in Russia

Chinese automakers have started to make goods better and cheaper than in Europe. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin at the plenary session of the VTB forum "Russia Calling!" on Wednesday, December 4.

"This is not even due to the fact that German manufacturers have begun to leave us, but is primarily due to the fact that Chinese manufacturers have begun to make goods better than in Europe and cheaper. This is the main indicator," he said when asked about the growing demand for Chinese cars in Russia.

The head of state noted that he considers the measures taken in Europe to combat the Chinese automobile industry as incorrect and harmful. He added that such measures are motivated by politics and cannot lead to a good result.

Asked about plans to localize Chinese automobile production in Russia, the head of state said that Moscow is striving for maximum localization.

"We are striving for maximum localization, that is, the production of component parts of cars exactly in our market, in our economy, at our production facilities," Putin said.
