First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs Vladimir Dzhabarov called the situation in South Korea a weakness of the current government.

In a conversation with Lenta.Ru on Wednesday, December 4, the senator noted that the president of the country, "who does not enjoy any popularity," attempted to stay in power by imposing martial law, that is, tried to make a military coup in his favor, but faced strong opposition from the parliament. Jabarov emphasized that South Korean President Yun Seok-yol has received no support from either allies inside the country or the West.

"The president's reference to what is allegedly a defense against persons who sympathize [with the DPRK] does not stand up to any criticism. I think this is a weakness of the current government," the senator noted.

According to him, the situation will now dissipate or the opposition will not miss the chance to prematurely remove the president from office and even put him on trial. He expressed the opinion that "the DPRK will behave with restraint and will not let itself be dragged into some provocation."

Also on December 4, Kirill Kotkov, head of the Center for the Study of the Far East, in a conversation with aif.ru predicted a quick resolution of the crisis in South Korea. In his opinion, this is evidenced by the fact that the president has already been forced to make concessions. The development of the situation according to a harsh scenario with the introduction of a military dictatorship is unlikely, because, according to the expert, the parliament will not allow it.

On the same day, the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China Lin Jian said that the Chinese authorities have paid attention to what is happening in South Korea, but Beijing does not comment on the internal affairs of the Republic, notes NSN.

Also on December 4, it became known that the South Korean opposition intends to accuse the President of state treason, RT writes. The opposition Democratic Party intends to work out the relevant issue.

On the eve, December 3, South Korean President Yun Seok-yol announced the introduction of martial law in the country and accused the opposition of intending to commit a coup d'état and "overthrow the government in favor of the DPRK." He then ordered the army to enter the capital and block the parliament. Later in the day, the South Korean government voted to lift martial law in the country.

A representative of South Korea's ruling Civil Force Party Han Dong-hoon apologized for the president's actions. In turn, the opposition party of South Korea demanded the resignation of the President of the country Yoon Seok-yeol. It is noted that all members of the party "Toburo" were in favor of the resignation of the President. At the same time it became known that all heads of the administration of the President of South Korea, as well as senior secretaries resigned.
