US President-elect Donald Trump does not need any advice or recommendations from the outside. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin during the VTB forum "Russia Calling!" on December 4.

"Mr. Trump is such a person who does not need advice and recommendations," the head of state said.

So the president commented on the request of VTB head Andrei Kostin to ask the next American leader at the next conversation with him "to be more careful and not to wave" the sanctions baton against Russia.

At the same time, Putin noted that Trump has not been in power for four years, and during that time a lot has changed in the economic sphere.

"All the same, the newly elected [US] president has not been in that very White House for four years. And in that time, there have been some changes in the economy, in the global economy and in the U.S. economy. His successors, his political opponents have done a lot to undermine the fundamental basis of the dollar as the world's reserve currency," the Russian leader said.

Earlier during the forum, Putin noted that the use of the dollar as the world currency brings a lot of unearned money to the United States and by this method Washington exploits other economies of the world. He emphasized that Washington's exploitation of other economies of the world at the expense of the dollar is a fact.

In turn, Kostin recalled that Trump on November 30 threatened the BRICS countries with duties on trade with Washington if they abandoned the dollar in favor of the future new BRICS currency or other currencies. Trump then noted that such a measure would be taken if the members of the association decided to create their own currency.

Earlier, on December 1, the head of the Federation Council Commission on Information Policy Alexei Pushkov called the introduction of duties on goods of BRICS countries unrealizable in practice. According to him, this threat is unrealistic because the United States is economically dependent on globalization and imports.

Putin said on Nov. 7 that two-thirds of Russia's trade turnover is serviced in national currencies, and with BRICS member countries it is already 88%. He also emphasized that Russia is not fighting the dollar. In response to the new trends in the development of the world economy, Moscow is thinking about the creation of new tools. The head of state also noted that Russia has never sought and does not seek to abandon the dollar.
