Putin calls normalization of relations between Russia and the West inevitable

Relations between Russia and the West will inevitably normalize. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin at the plenary session of the VTB investment forum "Russia Calling!" on December 4.

"I hope there will be a normalization of our relations with our Western partners at some point. And first of all because they themselves are interested in it, but we also have an interest, of course. But despite this possible and, I hope, inevitable process of normalization, still a significant amount of our cooperation will not only be preserved, but will develop with our current partners," Putin said.

Putin noted that the problem of the West is its arrogance and snobbery. Its actions only push the process of creating a multipolar world, the Russian president said.

The XV VTB Investment Forum "Russia Calling!" is taking place from December 4 to 5 at the World Trade Center in Moscow. Its main theme is "The Future of Capital and Future Capital".

Also in his speech at the plenary session of the VTB forum "Russia Calling!" on that day Putin reminded that the Western countries behaved as unreliable partners and tried to inflict a strategic defeat on Russia, including in the economic direction. Western elites wanted to drastically weaken Russia's industry, finance and services, create an insurmountable deficit of goods in the country, make the labor market unstable and reduce the living standards of Russians, but all these attempts failed, Putin stressed.

On December 3, the Russian president pointed out that the U.S. and Europe understood Russia's strategic defeat as the destruction of the Russian Federation, which has repeatedly faced such attempts by Western countries throughout its history.

Prior to that, on November 7, Putin said at a plenary session of the Valdai Club that the U.S. goal is to inflict a strategic defeat on Russia, but Moscow, despite this, has never refused to engage in a dialog with the West on strategic stability and is ready to conduct these negotiations.
