17 representatives of the St. Petersburg hockey club SKA will play in the Russian national team in the First Channel Cup. This was announced by the team's head coach Roman Rotenberg in his Telegram channel on December 4.
He said that the team will also include representatives of ten clubs of the Continental Hockey League (KHL).
"This year we have assembled a very stellar team," Rotenberg noted.
Among others, world champion, Stanley Cup winner Evgeny Kuznetsov, Olympic champion, three-time Gagarin Cup winner Mikhail Grigorenko, world champion, Olympic medalist, three-time Gagarin Cup winner Sergei Plotnikov will play for the national team.
The coach specified that the average age of the players is 24.5 years old.
"We are looking forward to exciting matches, we will please the audience with modern attacking hockey!" - summarized Rotenberg.
The upcoming Channel One Cup will be held in St. Petersburg from December 12 to 15.
In addition to the national teams of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan, the tournament will be attended by an experimental team of foreign KHL players - a team made up of foreigners playing in our championship. It should be led by two famous Canadians - Mike Keenan and Mike Pelino.
