The Czech Republic has stopped receiving oil through the Russian Druzhba pipeline. This was reported by Novinky portal on Wednesday, December 4, citing the republic's Minister of Industry and Trade Lukas Vlcek.

"We are aware of the situation and are in contact with all interested parties," the news portal quoted Vlcek as saying.

A representative of Unipetrol, which operates two refineries in the Czech Republic, Pavel Kaidl expressed that the problem is a delay in oil deliveries from the supplier.

It is noted that the republic receives 58% of the total amount of oil supplied to the Czech Republic through the Druzhba pipeline. The Czech Minister of Industry and Trade added that the country has enough oil, but in case supplies are not restored, the credit of oil from the state material reserves for Unipetrol will be used.

"Refineries are well prepared for this situation and at the same time we have a reliable system of state material reserves," Vlcek said.

At the same time, Transneft pointed out that oil deliveries through the Druzhba pipeline in the Russian Federation are carried out normally. This was reported by the pipeline company in a conversation with TASS.

Back in December 2022, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala said that the Czech Republic will remain dependent on the Russian gas pipeline Druzhba until 2025.

It is noted that until this period the country will receive oil from Russia through the southern branch of the pipeline, after which supplies will go through the transalpine oil pipeline TAL. Fiala added that the nine co-owners of the consortium operating the pipeline have approved the capacity expansion.

The Druzhba pipeline runs through Russia to the Belarusian city of Mozyr. It then branches into two strings: the northern one, heading toward Poland and Germany, and the southern one through Ukraine to Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Croatia.
