Music producer Valery Shlyafman kicked singer Aziza's bodyguard Igor Malakhov on the day of singer Igor Talkov's murder. The singer told about it on December 4, testifying in court.

Aziza said that she knew Talkov not very closely, but only as a colleague. She remembered the singer as a calm person. She first met Shlyafman on the day of Talkov's murder, October 6, 1991. On that day, she came with Malakhov to the Yubileiny Sports Palace to perform. First she went with her director to the canteen.

"Malakhov left with Shlyafman, and then there were noises, shots. I came out and saw a fight in the hallway, there was a cloud of smoke, like a fog, there were a lot of people, there was <...> Malakhov, he was lying on the floor face down," - said the singer.

Seeing all this, Aziza tried to stop the fight and threw a jacket on someone, and Shlyafman at that moment beat Malakhov with his feet. Talkov was not seen by the singer at that moment. Aziza, defending her bodyguard, lay right on his back. At the same time, she did not see the weapon in his hands.

Then Shlyafman ran towards the dressing room with a gun and hid. When the door was opened, Talkov's producer came out of the room without a gun. Aziza asked him where the weapon was, but the man did not answer. The girls who were with Shlyafman in the dressing room, told the singer that the producer put the gun in the toilet.

Aziza found the weapon, took it with two fingers and took it to Malakhov - she knew that the gun belonged to him. While in the dressing room, the singer heard screams that Talkov had died. At first she thought that the singer had been wounded by Malakhov. Later, when the police arrived, their staff reported that Talkov died during a fight. Aziza herself did not see who shot him.

The singer recalled that after the incident Malakhov went to the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia and said that he was beaten by Shlyafman, but did not kill Talkov.

Earlier, on November 13, it was specified that the court plans to interview at least 100 witnesses, including quite a few celebrities. That day, singer Natasha Koroleva testified in the case of Talkov's murder. She said that her performance in "Yubileyny" that day was interrupted and began to look for a doctor in the hall. Due to the fact that Koroleva was on stage at the time of the crime, she was not a witness to the conflict and shooting. In 20 minutes after the concert was stopped, the singer was taken backstage and told that Talkov was wounded and the ambulance took him away.

Petrogradsky court began to consider the criminal case on the murder of Igor Talkov on the merits on July 31, reported the city prosecutor's office. Music producer Shlyafman is charged in absentia under paragraph "e" of Article 102 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR ("Intentional murder under aggravating circumstances, committed in a manner dangerous to the lives of many people"), as well as under Article 15, paragraph "e" of Article 102 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR ("Attempted premeditated murder under aggravating circumstances, committed in a manner dangerous to the lives of many people").

The hearing of the case was held in the absence of the injured party. Sergey Borovkov, head of the department for supervision of procedural activity in the IC RF bodies of the Prosecutor's Office of St. Petersburg, acted as a state prosecutor.

He supported the accusation, according to which Shlyafman on October 6, 1991 out of dislike for Malakhov, caused by the order of performance of artists, tried to kill the concert director Aziza. Malakhov dodged the shot, and the bullet hit Talkov. In 1992, the accused fled to Israel.

Petrogradsky district court of St. Petersburg held the first court hearing on July 23 in the case of Talkov's murder. By that time, employees of the Investigative Committee of Russia had already interviewed 50 witnesses, including entertainers, employees of "Yubileyny" and law enforcement officers who visited the scene of the murder. In addition, genetic expertise was conducted during the investigation.

Anton Breido, head of the second investigative department of the first directorate for investigation of especially important cases of the Investigative Committee of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation in St. Petersburg, was in charge of the Talkov case after it was reopened in 2018 and brought it to trial.
