- Court recognizes extension of arrest of Major-General Muminjanov in bribery case as legal

On December 4, the Second Western District Military Court recognized as lawful the extension of arrest of Major-General Valeriy Muminjanov, deputy commander of the Leningrad Military District (LVO) for logistics, in the case of taking a bribe on a particularly large scale.
On November 1, his arrest was extended until February 2, 2025.
"The ruling of the 235th garrison military court to leave unchanged, the appeal of the defense counsel - without satisfaction," the judge announced the decision. His words are quoted by TASS.
It was also reported that during the court hearing the defense of the general asked to release him under house arrest. The accused himself stated that he did not intend to hide from the investigation, as well as to obstruct it.
The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case on taking a bribe on a particularly large scale (part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) against Muminjanov on September 2. The next day, the Military Court arrested him for two months. The defendant did not admit his guilt. According to the investigation, the major-general facilitated the conclusion of contracts for the supply of uniforms for more than 1.5 billion rubles, including in the area of special operations, and received a bribe of more than 20 million rubles for this assistance.
During the investigation it was also found that Muminjanov and members of his family own a lot of real estate in Moscow and Voronezh worth more than 120 million rubles. The legality of their acquisition is being checked.
