FSB foiled an attempt to traffic counterfeit tobacco products in the Kherson region


Employees of the Department of the Federal Security Service (FSSB) of Russia in Kherson region have stopped an attempt to counterfeit and unlabeled tobacco products on a particularly large scale. This was reported on December 4 by the press service of the agency.
It is specified that the man under the guise of an individual entrepreneur was selling large quantities of counterfeit tobacco products. In the course of search activities, law enforcement agencies found more than 189 thousand packs of products without excise stamps. Their total value is more than 24 million rubles.
According to the agency, a criminal case has been opened against the suspect under Part 6 of Article 171.1 of the Criminal Code of Russia ("Production, purchase, storage, transportation or sale of goods and products without marking and (or) application of information provided for by the legislation of the Russian Federation"). The defendant faces up to six years in prison.
Earlier, on September 13, employees of the Department of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation in Kherson region stopped an attempt to traffic counterfeit and demarcated tobacco products on a particularly large scale. In the course of investigative measures, 18 thousand units of products were seized, their total value amounting to Br2.3 million. A criminal case has been instituted, the man faces up to six years of imprisonment.
In January, Rospotrebnadzor proposed to conduct unscheduled inspections of trade in tobacco and nicotine-containing products without coordination with the prosecutor's office if such inspections are conducted on the basis of a risk indicator from the labeling system.
