- Russian Embassy in South Korea reported normalization of the situation in the republic

After the lifting of martial law in South Korea, the situation in Seoul and other cities of the republic has returned to normal. This was reported by the Russian Embassy on December 4.
"After the lifting of martial law, the situation in Seoul, other cities and provinces of the Republic of Korea has normalized. Threats of mass disturbances dangerous for the life of citizens, we currently do not record," the diplomatic mission said in its Telegram channel.
It noted that various transport, social and industrial infrastructure was operating in a normal mode.
At the same time, the embassy urged Russians to closely follow the events in South Korea and refuse to participate in mass events on political topics.
President of the Republic of Korea Yun Seok-yol declared martial law in the country on December 3. The reason for this step he called the threat of paralysis of power, which arose due to attempts to conduct impeachment proceedings. The commander of the emergency regime, Army Chief of Staff Park Ahn-soo, said that until martial law is lifted, the activities of parliament, political parties and associations are banned in the republic. Military equipment was brought to the streets of Seoul, the nation's capital.
Later that day, the South Korean government voted in favor of lifting martial law. Yun Seok-yol then canceled an emergency gathering of military personnel and sent those who had arrived for the draft back.
The opposition Republic Party announced that it was going to charge Yoon Seok-yeol with treason. At the same time, all leaders and senior secretaries of the presidential administration decided to leave their posts. In addition, the labor unions of the republic announced a general strike. On December 4, six opposition parties submitted to the parliament a draft of impeachment of the president, the vote on it will be held on December 6-7.
U.S. Ambassador to South Korea said on December 4 that Washington was concerned about the events in the republic and supported a peaceful and constitutional resolution of the situation. The diplomat added that the United States had not been informed in advance of Yun Seok-yol's plan to declare martial law.
