Border guards seized 260 kilograms of black caviar from two Russians in Khabarovsk Krai

Employees of the Border Department of the Federal Security Service of Russia in Khabarovsk Territory and Jewish Autonomous Region seized 260 kg of illegally extracted black caviar from two Russians. This was reported by the Public Relations Center (PRC) of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation on December 4

It is specified that the contraband was found in cars. Also, law enforcement agencies found during the inspection of more than 310 kg of fish of sturgeon species without documents confirming the legality of their origin.

According to the agency, a criminal case under Part 3 of Article 258.1 ("Illegal extraction and trafficking of especially valuable wild animals and aquatic biological resources, belonging to species listed in the Red Book of the Russian Federation and (or) protected by international treaties of the Russian Federation") of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

Earlier, on October 15, two residents of Khabarovsk seized over 400 kg of illegally harvested black caviar. The caviar and fragments of sturgeon fish were in two refrigerated trucks. Experts estimate that the damage to the country's aquatic bioresources may exceed 84 million rubles.

The fish poachers were prosecuted under part 1 of article 258.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Illegal extraction and turnover of especially valuable wild animals and aquatic biological resources").
