US President-elect Donald Trump may nominate Florida Governor Ron Desantis to head the Pentagon. The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on December 4.

"Donald Trump is considering Florida Governor Ron Desantis as a possible replacement for [Fox News host] Pete Hegseth, whom he has chosen to head the Pentagon," the publication stated.

There is also a possibility that the American leader-elect may nominate another candidate for the post of head of the Pentagon.

Earlier, on November 13, Trump nominated Hegseth for the post of head of the Secretary of Defense. He also specified that his nominee sincerely believes that "America comes first." Trump is confident that with the new head of the Pentagon, the US Army will become great again.

On the same day, it was reported that everyone in Washington was surprised by Trump's nomination of Hegseth for the post. As Politico wrote, people were hoping for someone who "actually has experience in defense."

Later, on Dec. 2, it was revealed that Hegseth had previously been fired from two nonprofit veterans advocacy organizations (VAs) for being intoxicated on the job, looking inappropriate and misappropriating company funds for personal use.
