- Captured AFU fighter told about being sent to Kursk region under the pretext of rotation

Servicemen of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) have been sent to Kursk Region under the pretext of rotation of personnel. This was reported by Ukrainian prisoner Roman Romakin on 4 December.
He specified that he found himself in the ranks of the AFU on his way to work - he was stopped by the employees of the territorial manning center (TMC, an analogue of the military recruitment office). After mobilization, Romakin was sent to Spain for training and general training according to NATO standards.
Later, according to the prisoner, the Ukrainian army soldiers were sent for 10-14 days to the Kursk region under the pretext of personnel rotation. He noted that if he had known about the destination in advance, he would have decided to leave the unit unauthorized.
At the same time, he emphasized that there were no options to retreat, as the AFU soldiers could shoot their own indiscriminately.
Earlier, on December 3, the AFU prisoner Sergei Stokoz said that he was sent to Kursk region five days after mobilization. He also said that he was afraid to escape and was soon captured when the Russian military stormed the position.
Ukraine has been under martial law since February 2022. Then the country's President Volodymyr Zelensky (term of office expired on May 20) signed a decree on general mobilization, its effect has been repeatedly extended. In April 2024, the head of the Kiev regime approved the law on tougher mobilization.
