The Coast Guard of the People's Republic of China (PRC) used water cannon against a Philippine government vessel. This was stated by the official representative of the Philippine Coast Guard Jay Tarriela on December 4.

It is specified that the incident occurred around 06:50 (01:50 Moscow time). According to the Coast Guard spokesman, the target of the Chinese representatives were navigation antennas.

"<...> CCG 3302 (Chinese Coast Guard vessel. - Ed.) fired water cannon at BRP Datu Pagbuaya, aiming directly at navigation antennas," Tarriela wrote on his page in the social network X (former Twitter).

Earlier on Oct. 15, a PRC Coast Guard ship collided with a Philippine vessel in the South China Sea. The Datu Cabaylo, a BFAR-owned vessel, received a small dent as a result of the collision.

Prior to this, Chinese and Philippine warships collided in the South China Sea on Aug. 19. Chinese coast guard spokesman Gang Yu said the Philippines would "suffer all the consequences" if it did not stop "its violations and provocations."

In early July, it was reported that a Chinese Coast Guard ship anchored in the Philippines' exclusive economic zone in the South China Sea. The Philippine side called it an intimidation attempt.

On May 2, it became known that the Philippine Foreign Ministry summoned the deputy head of the Chinese diplomatic mission in Manila, Zhou Zhi Yong, in connection with another clash between the coast guard ships of the two countries in the South China Sea on April 30. Manila added that the attacked vessel was on a routine humanitarian mission near Scarborough Atoll. The vessel was heavily damaged by the Chinese water cannon attack.
