NHK reported the Pentagon chief's visit to Japan next week


Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin will visit Japan next week. This was reported by NHK TV channel on December 4.
As the channel pointed out, the visit is aimed at confirming that the bilateral alliance will not falter with the arrival of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump.
Austin is expected to meet with his Japanese counterpart Gen Nakatani. He will also be received by Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba.
Earlier on November 22, the US aircraft carrier George Washington arrived at the port of the US Navy's Yokosuka naval base for permanent deployment. It will replace the aircraft carrier Ronald Reagan, this will be its second deployment 9.5 years after the first.
On Nov. 16, the U.S., Republic of Korea and Japan agreed to strengthen their common missile defense capability. It will now include annual meetings at the level of military chiefs of general staffs and ministers.
Meanwhile, Kirill Kotkov, head of the Center for the Study of the Far East in St. Petersburg, pointed out on November 13 that Moscow and Tokyo could build good-neighborly relations, but it should be understood that Japan is the most Americanized country outside the United States.
