Russian Embassy commented on the situation in Haiti

Russia is closely monitoring everything related to Haiti, including the recent upsurge in the internal political crisis, the Russian Embassy in Venezuela, which also performs diplomatic functions in the Caribbean nation, told Izvestia.

"The security situation in Haiti especially in recent years has tended to deteriorate. The current picketing in the interim authorities, as well as statements by criminal groups cannot but cause concern about the prospects of aggravation of the already not simple situation in the republic," the diplomatic mission said.

The situation in the country worsened after the assassination of President Jovenel Moise in 2021. At the end of February this year, several thousand prisoners escaped from the local prison, now gangs control 80% of the capital and some other regions of the country.
