Tucker Carlson traveled to Moscow for an interview with Lavrov

American journalist Tucker Carlson has arrived in Moscow for an interview with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. He announced this on December 4 on his page in the social network X (former Twitter).
"Yesterday we returned to Moscow to conduct an interview with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov <...> We just finished the interview and it was incredibly interesting. It will be released soon. I hope you will watch it," he shared.
The journalist shared the issues he discussed during his conversation with Lavrov. Thus, the topic of conversation was the relationship between Russia and the United States, the role of the election of Donald Trump as the new American leader, as well as the possibility of avoiding a more global conflict.
Carlson also pointed out the reasons why he decided to conduct the interview. According to him, he and his team are trying to show Americans a different point of view from what "they see from NBC News and The New York Times." According to the journalist, ordinary U.S. citizens don't realize that the world is closer to nuclear conflict than it was during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
"During my interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin, we watched as the administration of U.S. leader Joe Biden led the world ever closer to a nuclear conflict with Russia, the country that possesses the largest nuclear arsenal in the world. The situation escalated from that point and reached its climax with the election of Donald Trump as the new president of the United States," Carlson said.
He also said that he tried to secure an interview with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, whose powers expired on May 20, but was prevented by US embassy officials in Kiev.
"All our attempts were thwarted by the American government.
The American embassy in Kiev, which works for the money of US taxpayers, told Zelensky's government that they could not agree to this interview with our team," the journalist pointed out.
Earlier, on November 20, the first Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Alexei Chepa said that negotiations between Putin and Trump on Ukraine are possible. The parliamentarian believes that the new US administration will agree to dialog, it will improve the international situation.
In turn, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on November 17 that talks between Trump and Putin could take place when there is a need for it on both sides. He stressed that at the moment "there are no signals", but if necessary, the talks can be promptly organized.
Putin's interview with Carlson, which lasted more than two hours, was published on February 9. The Russian president answered questions about NATO, the United States, China, the Nord Stream explosions, and the release of American journalist Evan Hershkovich, who was charged in Russia with espionage.
Carlson first flew to Russia on Feb. 3. His visit to Moscow caused a mixed reaction in the United States. At the same time, many Western politicians and experts praised the interview, pointing to its great importance in highlighting Russia's position to Western audiences.
