The Akatsiya self-propelled artillery units of the Zapad group of forces have destroyed a camouflaged platoon stronghold with personnel and armored vehicles of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the zone of the special military operation (SMO). This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on December 4.

It is reported that in one of the directions of the Special Military Operation (SMO) the servicemen of the reconnaissance unit of the "West" group of troops with the help of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) uncovered a camouflaged platoon stronghold with personnel and armored vehicles of the AFU. After that, the scouts transmitted the coordinates to the command post for further destruction of the enemy. After receiving the target coordinates, the Akatsiya UAS crews drove to the firing positions to fulfill the combat mission. At the same time, the UAV operators corrected the direction of the strike.

As reported in the agency, the frames of objective control, received from the UAV in real time, made it possible to make sure of the destruction of targets.

"We work to suppress the enemy, we work to support our infantry, first we prepare for the infantry, we destroy everything there, the infantry comes after us, advances, we conduct a counter-battery fight," said a senior gunner with the call sign Babai.

After the task was completed, the artillerymen changed their firing positions to reserve ones to replenish their ammunition and to avoid retaliatory fire from the enemy.

At the same time, the self-propelled artillery units fired at various ranges. For example, artillery firing can be conducted both from closed firing positions and direct fire without prior preparation.

Earlier, on December 2, servicemen of the 203-millimeter 2S7M Malka SAU of the Center group of troops hit a UAV control point and a hangar with AFU armored vehicles in the Red Army direction of the North Caucasus Military District. The servicemen fired a series of 203-millimeter high-explosive shells, hitting the UAV control point at a distance of more than 28 kilometers.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made due to the aggravation of the situation in the region.
