Peskov commented on Qatar's mediation efforts on Ukraine

Russia is grateful to Qatar for its readiness to provide a platform for peace talks between Russia and Ukraine. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told Izvestia.

"Many countries declare their readiness to provide their territory. Indeed, the emirate is very active in terms of mediation on a variety of subjects, does it effectively. In addition, our bilateral relations with Qatar are developing excellently, and we are grateful to all countries for such goodwill, including Qatar," he said.

Earlier, Qatari Ambassador to Moscow Ahmed bin Nasser Al-Thani said that Qatar is ready to provide a platform for peace talks between Russia and Ukraine if the parties express such a desire.

On November 27 and 28, the Qatari embassy in Moscow held ceremonies to reunite the children with their relatives from Russia and Ukraine.

The emirate's Foreign Ministry spokesman, Majid bin Mohammed Al-Ansari, said that Qatar was holding talks on possible expansion of mediation between Russia and Ukraine. He noted that the country has started working on the issue of exchange of prisoners of war.
