The new trade policy of the administration of US President-elect Donald Trump may lead to negative consequences for the dollar. This is stated in forecasts published on the website of Saxo Bank on December 3.

"If Trump 1.0 (the first term of Trump's presidency. - Ed.) was a warm-up for deglobalization, then Trump 2.0 will turn out to be the main event with all its consequences for the US dollar," the forecast says.

According to the authors, the consequences for the US dollar are disastrous for trade around the world, as it cuts off the needed supply of dollars. It is specified that when Trump imposes duties against some countries, the dollar could become 20% cheaper against other currencies and 30% cheaper against gold. In addition, the bank suggested that China may allocate 50 trillion yuan to stimulate the economy.

Also, the authors of the forecast predicted that the cryptocurrency market in 2025 will quadruple to $10 trillion, and the developer of chips for artificial intelligence Nvidia will overtake Apple in terms of annual profits due to the success of its processors Blackwell. In addition, according to the authors, the U.S. will impose a tax on AI data centers due to rising energy prices.

The forecast also predicted the possible opening of a new era of longevity thanks to the first bioprinter-printed heart and the end of OPEC due to the electrification "boom".

"After a year of bad weather in 2024, a catastrophic storm will hit the U.S. in 2025, sinking a major company that underestimated the risks of climate change," the analysts suggested.

Saxo Bank experts publish annual forecasts. In December 2023, they published a forecast that suggested the world was headed for a "dangerously uncertain future" in 2024.
