US plans to allocate up to $825 mln to Ukraine for energy system resilience


Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga and US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken on 3 December signed a memorandum that should ensure the sustainability of the energy system. This was reported by the press service of the Ukrainian foreign Ministry in its Telegram-channel.
"Andriy Sibiga and Anthony Blinken signed at NATO headquarters a memorandum of understanding between the governments of Ukraine and the United States on cooperation in ensuring the sustainability of the energy system of Ukraine", - emphasized in the message.
As noted in the Foreign Ministry, the memorandum provides for the possibility of allocating material assistance of up to $825 million.
Before that, on December 2, the USA announced the allocation of a new package of military aid to Ukraine for $725m, Blinken said. He noted that the US and more than 50 countries are "united" with Ukraine, so they provide military aid.
Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Kiev against the background of the Russian special operation to protect Donbas, which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, after the situation in the region worsened due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
