The Kremlin considers the situation in South Korea in connection with the imposition of martial law to be alarming. This was stated by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov on December 3.

"The situation is alarming. We are carefully observing," the Russian leader's spokesman said, answering a question from Interfax.

In turn, the official representative of the United Nations (UN) Secretary General António Guterres Stephane Dujarric said during a briefing that the organization is following the situation in Seoul with concern.

Earlier in the day, Korean President Yun Seok-yol declared martial law. The reason given was the threat of power paralysis due to attempts to conduct impeachment proceedings.

Later, the commander of the emergency regime, Chief of Staff of the Ground Forces Park Ahn Soo said that the activities of parliament, political parties and associations in South Korea are prohibited until the lifting of martial law. Eyewitnesses shared that protesters were gathering outside the National Assembly building in Seoul. Later, footage of military equipment in the capital appeared.

In addition, it was reported that there was a sharp fall of the South Korean won against the US dollar. The local currency was quoted at 1.4 thousand won per $1. It is specified that it is 1.6 won lower than the previous session.
